 As part of our task today we were challenged to find out a bit more about the immediate community in Media City, the brief tasked us with finding more information about the different people around campus,who they are, what they do and what they contribute to the Media City campus. 
We spoke to Simon who is a part of the security team working around Media city, more specifically the Uni of Salford campus within Media City. He informed us that around the campus there is around 7 people working within the security in that building on a specific shift basis. He informed us that working within Media City is great apart from the business of the area especially with students around. As a part of the security team we felt inclined to inquire about the safety around the area, more specifically if there had been any incidents within the campus area, we were happy to hear that there had been "none in 5 years". He told us the campus was open to anyone and with the 40 cameras around there is no issues that would need to be dealt with via the security team! 
Talking about travel, Simon had mixed opinions on the efficiency of the travel, he recognized that the travel is much more convenient coming from around the north. Simon can see it is easy with driving or the tram and bus services however, Simon has to make his commute from the south meaning its slightly more difficult for him to get here, his commute takes around 30 minutes via motorbike.
Closing our talk with Simon he motivated us by talking a little bit about the opportunities for work at the facilities around the campus including the filming of Blue Peter happening outside. Another person who we spoke to was Rachel who works in the Lowry Theatre box office selling tickets for shows however she also has a second job as an actress. She finds it nice working at MediaCityUK as she feels safe and comfortable in the area however hasn't really attended any of the events that are available. She also told about how because of the University being so close by there are different schemes available for students to take advantage of and informed me of the Lowry's current discount scheme which caters to the Under 26 giving them discounts on the tickets as well as on drinks at the bar :

To get to work, she drives from Didsbury and depending on the amount of traffic, the commute, can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, which she finds a little frustrating as traveling by car can be very unpredictable.    ]]> 2018-09-19 13:40:32 UTC https://padlet.com/s_b_hadwin/MediaCityUK/wish/283419080 isabel00 https://padlet.com/s_b_hadwin/MediaCityUK/wish/283419784 We interviewed a gentleman called Stephen Murphy who is a tutor at the University if Salford for Film Production. Although he's only been working at The University of Salford for the past 3 weeks he found he felt very safe even though the campus is an open building so the public are able to use the facilities (library, café etc.).
 He made it clear that there are lots of security which made him feel very safe however the security outside "scared" him as he found the Segways are dangerous.
He commutes from Rossendale Valley and finds it "awful" to get to Media City. It takes him about two hours as eh said that he always gets stuck in traffic on the motorway.
As hasn't been working at Media City for very long he hasn't attended any events, however he runs his own film festival in The Pennine:

Here we interviewed Sara one of the Information and Support Service staff in the library.

As part of her team there are 16 members of staff all working in order to support the students with any enquiries or questions specifically about the library; split between the two campuses there are over 50 members of library staff helping them to stay open 24 hours a day. 

After graduating with her MSC in Library and Information Management from Manchester University, she then began working at Salford University and has done for just over a year now, she prefers working on the Media City Campus as it allows her to use the 50 bus for free from Central Salford. And as a result of being in media City she has made the most of facilities like the Lowry whilst she has been here with her perks from work.
