Charlie described the family reunion in his dairy as "everyone loves each other, but no one really likes each other."
In my comprehension, Charlie is meaning that they gathered in the festival as a family, they love each other because of a sense of affection. But based on each individual's personality, they do not really admit each other. There are gaps between them.

The main idea of this passage is: [August 25, 1991]
Charlie is trying to cope with the recent suicide of his only middle-school friend, Michael, and with the death of his beloved Aunt Helen, which happened when Charlie was seven. At the time of Michael’s death, guidance counselors try to help Charlie, but he was still unable to react beyond screaming and crying. 
 
I selected this paragraph because: it’s weird that Charlie’s favorite person is his aunt. Most of the people may choose his mom, dad or grandparents instead of aunt. It may be a hint which relate to Charlie himself, such as the construction of the character, or Charlie’s family background.

Charlie decides to participate more in life. He is invited to join the party after homecoming football game. One part of the story is the flashback of Charlie’s experience that he accidentally watched a girl get date-raped. Another part of the passage is the homecoming party. Brad dances with his girlfriend, and he and Patrick don’t talk. Charlie’s sister dances with the abusive boy. 
 
I selected this paragraph because: Brad actually have a girlfriend with him. However, the main purpose of having a girlfriend may be a way to represent that he is a real muscular person like what he shows in the game.
