Socrates and his teaching style.

While many may not support his teaching style, I believe the socratic method of teaching is one of the best ways of teaching. This method creates a platform allowing allowing all participants to become involved. I also believe that not everyone is the same, and hence not everyone learns in the same manner. As a result, the Socratic Method also allows everyone to understand the information on discussion in their own comfortable way. Unfortunately, in my high school in Trinidad, this method was not generally adopted and lecture based classes were the norm; where students are required to sit and absorb information.

Given that God is does exist, must he be good?

I believe God is good all the time. During life we may encounter bad situations but I there is a reason behind everything. I also believe it is wrong for us to think God is evil when we face these situations. I think that God allows us to find ourselves in bad situations, giving us the choice to turn to Him, essentially testing man's strength and faithfulness.

To me, the allegory of the cave, illustrates challenges of the modern world. The story endeavours through a man's escape from the darkness of a cave, for the first time and is opened to a new life. Using this analogy, the cave is seen as man's comfort zone; a superficial and perspective world, ridden with false truths and the world outside the cave as the truth of life and existence. I also, believe this analogy has perfectly depicts the ignorance of man, but Plato couples this ignorance by showing that man possesses the ability to ascend from his stubborn way of thinking and learn to experience the meaningful reality.
It's interesting the manner in which Plato proffers the setting. He does it in such a way that any one's truth can be simply one's perception and opinion.

Its ironic because when one thinks of an apology, the word "sorry" normally comes to mind, but Socrates does not apologise for anything but rather I believe that he is sympathetic towards his community and feels pity for the ones who sentence him to death. It is also comical in the sense that Socrates knew he would be found guilty but at the same time he was surprised that a vast amount of people found him innocent.

The first and most widely read of the three works, comprising The Divine Comedy. It describes Dante's journey through hell with his trusty companion Virgil (and Dante is referred to as Pilgrim). Virgil is sent by Dante's lover Beatrice, to help Dante escape this lowly place at the bottom of a mountain (Dante could not climb the mountain as his path was blocked by three beasts). Virgil then leads Plato through hell, which is illustrated as a funnel lined with concentric circles in which sins of ever increasing severity are punished (JoT, 2nd Edition).
