Santa Anna(with his troops) charged Texas with a surprise attack. Texas was extremely outnumbered. They fought for thirteen days, until Texas surrendered. The warriors left in Texas shouted "remember the Alamo!" during the entire fight. There were no telephones back then, so they used a telegraph. Telegraphs were big devices, where you typed out a message in long and short sounds, and then the person who got the message would have to interpret the message, and possibly send another one back. Morse code was a BIG deal back in the mid 1800's because you could finally send messages very quickly, but there were some down sides too. One down side was definitely that it is really hard to interpret a Morse code message because you'd have to know a bunch of different patterns in your mind, and what they are trying to say. Another down side is that Morse code messages are VERY long because per letter are multiple dashes and dots, and that adds up pretty quickly! There are two different definitions to the word lash. The first one is a noun, meaning a type of whip mainly used to beat people in slavery. The other meaning is the actual beating called a lash. Depending on what you did, for how long you did it, why you did it, and even the mood that their master was in, they could get up to 200 lashes! That only happened once though because most people can't even survive after 100 of them. What do they stand for, what is their climate like, what is their motive to agree to fight, ect. The first side is the Union. The Union was located in the northern regions of America, and had a climate like Illinois, where it is really hot in the summer, and really cold in the winter, nothing in between. They mainly stood for NO slavery because most slaves escaped from the south, into the north(which the north was completely okay with). The north was fed up with  the south allowing slavery because it was racist, and was completely useless for everybody except for the lazy, rude, and horrid slave owners. They had weapons like rifles, canons, and ironclads(basically warships that were indestructible). The north and much more access to iron, so they had really good weapons. Like I said before, their main motive to fight was to end slavery once and for all. The second side is the confederates. They are located in the south, so their climate was always warm. The south fought for slavery to continue because the slave owners were lazy, and didn't want to do their own work. Also, they felt as if they had a sense of power over the people of color, and that they were all that, and the people of color were garbage. They had a lot of the same weapons as the north, but they barely had any iron, so they had less weapons. One thing they did have though, was that most of the war was fought on their turf, so they knew all of the places that they could get high ground on, or hide, etc. Also they had a bigger population, meaning not just more soldiers, but more people to help the soldiers. One reason they had more people, is because the slave owners forced a lot of the slaves to fight with them. Now comes the time where I give my opinion on who I think would win in an ideal world, and why. The leader for The Union was Irvin McDowell. The leader for The Confederate was P. G. T. Beauregard. The fight was in Virginia, and not too far from Washington D.C. The battle ended with a Confederate victory. The Union had 2,896 deaths to the Confederate's 1,982. I think it was the most important because that was the battle in which The Union took the final victory over The Confederates. One reason I think the reason I think The Union won was because of the motivation they just got form Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Women weren't allowed to do a lot of things, but today, we're going to focus in on one thing women weren't allowed to do. Fighting in wars. Women were known as weak,(which was not true) so the women who wanted to fight decided they were going to dress themselves up as men, so they could fight in the war. The amount of women on each side estimated around 400 to 750 of them.
