I read the book "doremat the music of mathematics" description of a project that connects calculations to notes. Very interesting. Personally I think it's engaging. I did see a movie in a high school classroom. Many liked it but had difficulty understanding why spoiling music with calculations "

A teaching approach that I suggest to my students is the cartoon MathMagic Land. The short film soon became one of Disney's most popular educational films and was immediately made available to schools with an introduction to Pico de Paperis.

Donald Duck, with a hunting rifle, enters the Mathmagic Land, a fantastic kingdom where trees have square roots, number streams and a wandering pencil playing tris. After listening to a bird reciting the first 15 digits of Greek, Donald heard the voice of the " True Spirit of Adventure" that will guide him on his journey through "Country of Wonders of Mathematics". Donald is initially not interested in exploring Mathmagic Land, believing that math is for "eggheads". When "Mr. Spirit" suggests a connection between math and music, though, Donald is intrigued. First, Donald discovers the relationships between octaves and string length which develop the musical scale of today. Next, Donald finds himself in ancient Greece, where Pythagoras and his contemporaries are discovering these same relationships. Pythagoras (on the harp), a flute player, and a double bass player hold a "jam session" which Donald joins after a few moments using a vase as a bongo drum. Pythagoras' music is, as the Spirit explains, the basis of today's music, and that music would not exist without "eggheads". The segment ends with a sequence of live action musicians playing both jazz and classical music and Pythagoras' pals fading away.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvceKeHl0Sg

Art, music, literature, etc. It is crucial to use all our ideas to make maths interesting and usable for all our students. Music is one of the most popular teaching tool we are able to use. In my class we try to make songs and poems in order to learn mathematical types. It is very common to do that but i really liked the ideas of the videos above and I am thinking to try and make something simmilar. Thanks!!!

traistaru mariaMathematics can be taught by singing. It was proven by Dragoş Constantinescu, a teacher from Valcea who enters the guitar classes. The method caught and made students hold the theorems, axioms, or corolla much better if they were drunk by the teacher than if he had said in a loud voice. This mathematical-musical language simultaneously succeeds in capturing the children's attention, disconnecting them and stimulating their intelligence and inventiveness, that is to create favorable conditions for what is taught on the board to truly become an "unforgettable" lesson. And the results have not been expected. It's a matter of pedagogy, but especially a lot of love for the professor's job, increasingly rare in our society so alert.
