 This video shows a great representation of the process of students -Doing, reflecting, and modifying. These are the key steps to Experiential Learning.

Definition:
A rich learning experience based on reflection on doing. It allows students to learn through experience. It is hands on and uses all five senses.

Pros: Allows students to use their senses, they get a deeper learning experience, field trips (more memorable)

The group chose this video because it shows how a direct instruction can be more interactive and that its a misconception that the instruction will be boring.

Definition: Its going directly from the teachers to the students, it is straight forward, and teaches specific skills using lectures.

Pros: Pros of direct instruction are teacher has control over the classroom, clear and specific instructions.

Cons: Cons are students can become passive, takes away creativity, and there is little room for teacher to improve lesson plan.

The video shows how the teacher gives the class a task and allows them to think of how to answer the question. She then allows the student to show how they got their answer. When they are wrong the teacher allows the student to correct their mistake to get the correct answer while allowing other students to help guide them.

Definition: Students learn by completing tasks. These task are usually in forms of projects that can be done on their own or in groups while having teacher guidance.

Pros: Students are exploring real world problems and chalanges
Deeper learning of knowledge
Experience deeper learning of the importance of the subject matter
Encourages students to problem solve

Cons: Students may get off task
Students may not have the right instructions on what to do
Peers may misguide classmates

The video displays how great it is for differentiation of instruction. A great way for students to work with one another while practicing real world situations. Such as, working with one another, learning how to agree or disagree with one another. Enables each student to contribute individual skills and construct knowledge together.

Definition: Collaborative learning allows students to be in groups to work together to understand the concepts.

Pros: Some pros include allowing students to ask and answer questions with peers, allowing students to understand the concept in tier 1 language, allowing the students to be more comfortable to share their ideas in a smaller group, and it helps to teach communication.
