Layden has made wonderful progress in his social and emotional development. He can now say goodbye to his mum and dad in the morning, showing growing independence and confidence. He enjoys playing with different friends and is also happy to play on his own when he chooses, giving him a healthy balance in how he engages with others.

He is able to eat his food by himself and use the bathroom independently. He also communicates confidently with his teacher, whether he needs something or simply wants to share a story. Layden loves having fun with nursery rhymes. These short, playful poems help develop listening skills, and he pays close attention when we practise them. He enjoys repeating the rhymes, which helps him become more confident in hearing and identifying sounds within words.

Layden has enjoyed learning new words in Afrikaans and isiZulu. He loves sharing these words with his friends and, with a little motivation, can say them all by himself. Learning these languages is fun for him, and he feels proud when he uses them during playtime or in class.

Layden has been learning a lot about shapes. He can name six basic 2D shapes: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, and diamond. This is important because shapes are all around us! He enjoys pointing them out in his world, such as in toys, books, and even on the playground.

He is also improving at recognising numbers from 0 to 10 and can say them in the correct order. He enjoys joining in counting games with his friends. Sometimes he needs a little encouragement to start, but he is becoming more enthusiastic about it every day. Counting while moving, such as jumping or clapping, makes learning even more fun.
