Critics feared this could undermine judicial independence and endanger dissidents.
Until 1997, Hong Kong was ruled by Britain as a colony but then returned to China. Under the "one country, two systems" arrangement, it has some autonomy, and its people more rights.
The bill was withdrawn in September but demonstrations continue and now demand full democracy and an inquiry into police actions.
Clashes between police and activists have become increasingly violent, with police firing live bullets and protesters attacking officers and throwing petrol bombs.

Since 1999 the country has been run by socialist party PSUV however, since 2013 an economic collapse and shortages lead to many seeking refuge in neighbouring countries.
"In the report of its findings on Wednesday, the UN team said Venezuela's security services had been engaged in a pattern of systematic violence since 2014, aimed at suppressing political opposition and generally terrorising the population.
Mr Maduro and the ministers of interior and defence were not only aware of the crimes, but gave orders, co-ordinated operations and supplied resources, the report said."

Reports of forced sterilisation and wider persecution of the Muslim group were "reminiscent of something not seen for a long time", he told the BBC.
It is believed that up to a million Uighur people have been detained over the past few years. China states these camps are a necessary measure against terrorism, following separatist violence in the Xinjiang region.

FGM was already illegal in some Sudanese states but these bans were widely ignored, now it is being enforced with an actual sentence! 
This is a momentous day for Sudanese women, however, we must continue to pray that these laws will be enforced!

For eleven years, the search engine Ecosia has used most of the revenue from advertising on its website and app towards planting trees.
Ecosia often targets countries that are the most biodiverse, where tree loss directly corresponds with species loss. This has caused them to launch projects in Nicaragua and Peru, Burkina Faso and Malawi, and Indonesia and Australia.

It is estimated at least 10000s of children are estimated to be used to dig for the toxic metal without protective clothing
Foreign companies won't give them jobs whilst they profit off what they do.
Many have been accused of forced child labour as well as abuses of children, some younger than 14. 
Much of this injustice is a result of the lack of leadership- foreign companies getting away with lots due to the rampant corruption.
