Is the Misfit a criminal as a result of his life experience?

I think yes. He claims that he killed his father but doesn't remember which is why he was in the prison in the first place. He seems to be delusional, claiming his dad actually died of the flu and he was innocent. Therefore, I think he was a criminal as a result of his life expierences.

He says, ""It was a head doctor who said what I had done was kill my daddy but I known that for a lie. My daddy died... of the epidemic flu and I never had a thing to do with it. He was buried in the Mount Hopewell Baptist churchyard and you can go there and see for yourself."

The answer is yes, the Misfit is pure evil, because of the murderings he has caused in Florida. No one who isn't evil could kill people in cold blood like he did.

Thomson

What are the social frameworks reflected in the story and where do they place the Misfit?

The Misfit's morals are twisted, but stay consistent throughout the story. He relies on his moral code to guide the way he acts, talks, and treats people. The grandmother on the other hand doesn't have strong and consistent morals, this could be shown by the way she calls the Misfit "a good man" although she calls someone else a good man earlier in the story but both meanings of "good man" were drastically different in each way.

Brooke
