         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Instructions </strong><br>As noted in the book, not every country has adopted a “common law” legal system, some have what is called an “inquisitorial system.” Using the Study Questions on p. 83 as a guide, discuss the costs and benefits of the two systems. Is your thinking influenced by <em>how </em>judges are chosen (as explored in Module 2)?  Using the readings provided with the option of also using outside resources, answer the prompts above. <br><br>Your post must be a minimum of 750 words, including footnotes. You must also respond substantively to at least two classmates post, at least 250 words including footnotes, and to any replies to your initial post.  <br><br><strong>Initial Post Due Date: Wednesday, 11:59 PM PT <br>Response Posts 2 Due Date: Sunday, 11:59 PM PT </strong><br>You must properly cite all resources you employed.          <title>Discussion Guidelines </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><br></strong>1.&nbsp; Initial Posts are due time-stamped by the date indicated in the module. &nbsp;<br>2.&nbsp; Points will be deducted for late initial posts, as this has an adverse impact on the quality of the discussion and on the learning community. &nbsp;<br>3.&nbsp; Posting Replies on immediately is a good practice; any later than the day before the due date has an adverse impact on the quality of the learning community.&nbsp; Posting all or the majority of your contribution on last day of the week will result in decreased points due to the fact that you have not been effective in participating in the discussion across the week.<br>4. Interaction is key to a rigorous discussion: participation over 3 separate days each week is optimal, as described below.<br>5. The quality of the discussion is dependent on everyone in the course; therefore, points are gained through posts that stimulate further conversation. &nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
