The setting is what sets the scene and gives you a brief overview of what the protagonist has to deal with right out of the bat. It is also what the author always presents first. Even if it is not on the forefront of my mind, I definitely find it the most interesting since there can be many interpretations for each symbol. I like that the value a symbol holds for each reader is different for everyone and depends on how the person understands it. Also, I love when even the most seemingly mundane things can represent strong ideas within a text or when the meaning of a symbol is revealed at the end of a book.
