Martin Luther King Jr was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His dad was a pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

He started at Morehouse College when he was 15. Later, he went to Crozer Theological Seminary to study religion.

He got his PhD in theology from Boston University. He met Coretta Scott his wife in Boston while she was studying music.

After finishing school, Dr King became the pastor at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama

After Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her bus seat, people in Montgomery started a bus boycott. Dr. King gave a speech encouraging people to keep protesting peacefully. it happened on december 5 1955

Dr. King and other civil rights leaders, like Ralph Abernathy and Bayard Rustin, started the SCLC to fight for equal rights using peaceful protests. He founded the conference in 1957.

Dr. King went to Birmingham to protest segregation. He got arrested for marching without a permit and wrote his famous “Letter from Birmingham Jail” while locked up”

Dr. King gave his famous speech on August 28 1963 and it was at the March on Washington, where he talked about his dream of a world without racism. Over 250,000 people were there

Dr. King led peaceful marches from Selma to Montgomery to help Black Americans get the right to vote. It lasted several weeks and helped lead to the Voting Rights Act.

Dr. King was in Memphis to support sanitation workers on strike. He was shot at the Lorraine Motel and died at 39 years oold.
