Over the years, the teachers at the residential schools increasingly mistreated the students. Schools served as a breeding ground for inequality and suffering. My parents were under strict rules from them, and timetables frequently controlled their daily schedules. My parents were also forbidden from communicating with any family members for fear that they would engage in any behavior associated with their beliefs or culture. The workers at the school wanted their culture to be forgotten. But despite my parents' best efforts, they would always be unable to forget. Every action or attempt at self-expression by my parents was met with harsh punishment from the teachers, and some other children were killed because they spoke up. According to my parents, the school did not place a high priority on teaching. They were mainly taught how to pray and perform manual labor in the fields, light industries like woodworking, and domestic tasks like laundry and sewing. Also, my brother said the tanks weren't as modern as the ones we currently have in 2023.

While fighting with more than 6,100 soldiers, he encountered many challenges. Heavy losses were sustained by my brother and other soldiers, which caused them to be unable to complete the tasks they were assigned to do. The raid also resulted in a violent air battle. Despite the horrific cost to the ships near Dieppe, the Allied air forces could resist the German air force. In their spare time, my brother and the soldiers on the boat bound for the Dieppe raid would either pray or tell jokes. And lastly, Dieppe was a failure and a tragedy for all the soldiers. The cause of the Dieppe raid being such a failure was A late arrival on the beach, a lack of air support, intense water fire, and an overestimation of their tanks' agility and firepower, all contributing to the deaths of 916 men. All of this occurred as a result of environmental racism. They were consistently mistreated and subjected to prejudice. Nobody cared about how they ended up living or the toxic surroundings they were forced to live in.

My relative went there and asked the city to give these essential services. But unfortunately, the city made the move that they thought was best. Instead, the town constructed other buildings. My cousin, his family, and the citizens of Africhiville all experienced a heartbreaking moment.

Their home was the final Archiville property to be demolished in January 1970. My younger cousins are the three kids standing in front of this house. They were devastated by the loss of their childhood home and their parents' severe financial restrictions.

The history of black settlers in Nova Scotia spans centuries and is far more complicated. When the dreadful events occurred, my oldest cousin was in Africville. Unfortunately, inequality and poverty presented many obstacles for the residents of Africville, particularly for my cousin. It was difficult for him and his family since the City of Halifax refused to offer several services other Haligonians took for granted, such as sewage, access to clean water, and garbage disposal. Residents of Africville, who paid taxes and took pride in their homes, repeatedly requested the city to provide these essential services, but nothing was done. According to my cousin, on March 3, 1959, their city intended to build a hospital for infectious diseases, a prison, and a dump, which would have been unneeded for them. Finally, and more importantly, my cousin had his land, which his father had given him, and was offered payment equal to the value of their houses. Even though some families had lived on that property for decades, some other residents—who lacked documentation or title —were awarded $500. The city might confiscate the lands of those who refused relocation. Despite opposition, the last Africville home, which belonged to my cousin and his family, was ultimately destroyed in January 1970. Even if the experiences my cousin and his family had weren't accessible, they could still live happily, just like other families.
