Aibileen is concerned for herself and Miss Leefolts child.

So far, I feel I am curious about the child Mae Mobley and if she will end up being with her mother forever. I wonder if Aibileen will do anything; she seems worried and questions some of Miss Leefolt’s actions and reactions toward her child. Aibileen is conflicted: she cares about the child but she also has to be careful on her reaction. I wonder what will happen between those three.

Aibileen is in a predicament about her close friend, and is taking risk to help her.

A movie I could connect this book to is Twilight. In twilight there are three separate groups, but the discrimination was between two, vampires and wolves. Bella, a high school teen, got caught in the middle of either side and was viewed differently as she was making up her mind. The hurtful words effected her deeply in her final decision on what to do, because it wasn’t only between her and strangers it was two people she fell in love with.

A song that I feel matches the mood of my book so fair is “Ain’t It Fun” by Paramore. I think this matches the most so far because as Aibileen is trying to help Minny get a job, the process and “what ifs” were superfluous, however that’s what their “real world” truthfully is.

Minny gets a job at Mrs.Celias house and is shocked by the flexibility.

I chose this meme because as Minny is learning about her new job, she is also getting more freedom than a typical “help” would be getting. Although she is happy about it, she is still cautious when she arrives and during her times there: Mrs.Celias husband doesn’t know she is cleaning his home, nor teach his wife how to cook.

At this point in the story Minny is getting more and more curious about Miss Celias secrets.

My plot twist:

If I could I would change Minnys future with Miss Celias. As Minny is hiding from Miss Celias husband, I would have him enter fortuitously while they were cooking with one another. Miss Celias husband would be an African American man, completely bamboozling Minny. He would be so angry at first, but than grateful to see his wife having someone she can lean on and trust. This would change the story because as the book begins and goes on, it’s based on the social norm, white people have use the blacks for “help”, and they aren’t seen as anything more. Having Miss Celias husband be the same color as “the help” with a “real” job would add spice and excitement.
