I am hosting a science night therefore students and their parents can get more involved in the school and parents can make a relationship with their kids teachers. Also so that parents know what exactly their students are reviewing in class, and lastly for them to have a good time and explore the different activities we will be having.

Before our testing dates kids are going to be more relaxed and are going to want to participate and come.

This gives us enough time to keep the stations moving each parent will spend max 5 minutes in the stations it will nothing but quick activities therefore all of our parents are able to get trough the stations with plenty of time.

Also as its February it will get dark later and its perfect for our parents to not be out so late and still have time to put their kids to sleep and ready for the next day it will be on a Tuesday.

We will not be able to offer daycare for parents.

Our Pta parents will also help out if necessary but it will mostly be our 3rd-5th teachers.

We will not have anymore volunteers.

We will have a total of 21 teachers helping out.

2 per station being 7 different stations there will be 14 teachers in stations

3 in the raffle tables at the end and of the 4 left 3 will be in the refreshments area with the PTA parents at least 5 of them can volunteer. They will all be in the refreshments snacks area handling the cash and helping giving them out as the parents purchase their snacks, and if we need another guide we will use the PTA parents to be at the door with the principal and the Assistant principal.

I the coordinator will be giving instructions to parents as they come with a microphone as well with another teacher helping me out in the microphone area with all the announcements and instructions.

Raffle tickets will be $13 to buy

popcorn $2 selling approximately 400- would bring us $800 in sales

refreshments $2 selling approximately 400 would bring us $800

raffle tickets (9 winners) $5each selling roughly 250 $1250

Big prize raffle tickets (One winner) $10each selling approximately 100 would bring in $1000

I am estimating a total of 600 people in the building, with that said our revenue would be of $1850 extra that would bring us $3850 which we can do our next years science night with the money we make that night and use the other money saved up for something else.

The very last raffle will be our bigger one we will give it away to 3 different students those who complete their specific grade stations will immediately qualify to purchase these tickets.

The prize will be a vending machine that will cost $29 and will be spending a total of $87.

And like I said before teachers in the stations will be in charge of the raffle tickets. There will be a different station so that when students are done with the 3 different stations they can make a line to purchase their tickets.

There will be two different lines with the two different teachers helping out to sell the raffle tickets.

The principal and the assistant principal will give the students a sheet where it will have Station 1,2,3 so that the teachers in charge of the stations will put a sticker in their papers as they finish up so that they can qualify to buy the last raffle.

Students will be able to buy the raffle tickets of their own stations as they finish up the activities they only need to complete one to buy the first set of tickets.

For the big raffle they do have to finish all the activities of their grades.

-Bundles of popcorn butter and bags for popcorn, which we would need 13 bottles of corn kettle for 6.14 each bringing a Total of $80

And4 bottles of oil for popcorn for $99

-600 bags of popcorn for 13 each bringing a total of 40$

-Juice and water we will be buying it at cotsco or sams where it will be 11 cases of small water bottles for $109.34

-For cases of juice we would need 18 cases of 32 juices each and pay $214

which brings a total of $700

But we would bring more revenue as it was explained making our money back note.

The floor will have tape with arrows directing the people to the right location of the buying where the science night will be held.

We will also post it on ClassDojo and in the call of the school at the end at least twice a week before the event happens we will start announcing it 3 months in advances and lastly an email will be sent to every parent with the flyer.

We will also post flyers in the grades classrooms to announce it more and in the pick up doors for parents to be informed on time.

We will have different posters in the gym with our main theme of a carnival as the carrousels have motion and different forces as well as all the rides.

We will have many posters in the walls to make it seem like its a carnival we will have balloons made the popcorn stands, and all that material will be made in school with the supplies our teachers have if we need more we will purchase it in amazon with bundles I estimate that we will spend roughly $150 in decorations.

In the entrance of the gym we will have a photo boot where parents and students are going to be able to take selfies with their phones and the background they will have a big poster that will say science night carnival. They will be able to wear our provided masks to take the pictures but will have to leave it there for the next parents to take pictures.

The pictures can be done as they are entering and exiting the science night.

Each teacher for its respective station will be responsible to come up with the activities that the parents will be doing.

As I said before there will be 2 teachers per stations they will have to work together to come up with a good activity and if they need materials each station will have a budget of $27 to spend.

STATION 1:

Gravity and Forces Marble painting. 

This experiment will be a fun opportunity for everyone to have fun while learning. They can also can get to keep their papers if they want.

Materials:

Water based paint, marbles, carnival black and white drawings, plastic spoons, cartoon boxes, and plastic cups. 

Procedure: 

Place the drawing inside of the box, then pour different colors of paints in different cups, pour one marble in each cup, you can do as many different paint colors as you want, cover the marbles witht the paint, and drop the marbles one by one in the shoe box.

STATION 2:

Magnetic cardboard pac man box.

Materials:

Cardboard Box, black paint, yellow tape, popsicle sticks, scissors, paper clips, markers, hot glue, Magnet wand  or, make your own magnet wand with a craft stick and a magnet. 

Procedure: 

We are going to start by cutting the back part of the box, the top we will close it and put black pain all over it, then we will cover the edges with yellow tape, create the title for our box and then we will glue the popsicle sticks with enough space for our pacman to pass, we will draw our ghosts in paper and cut them and glue them paper clips in the back, add yellow dots to the box, and  cut a slit on the side of the box for our magnetic wound to be able to enter, and you can start playing the game attracting the ghosts with the magnet wand

STATION 3

-POM POM POPPERS-

Students will be learning about the different forces of push and pull with this experiment. 

Materials: 

Paper Cups or toilet paper rolls Balloons, Pom Poms, Duct Tape, Construction/Scrapbook Paper, Scissors, Ruler, Craft Knife/scissors. 

Procedure : 

Decorate your papercup with construction paper or sticker and tape, know the end of a ballon and cut it where the end can be placed onto the toilet paper, secure the balloon with tape and its ready to use add the pom poms and start aiming at a bucket.

SATATION 4

Friction Experiment: 

Materials: 

Yarn, plastic cups, hole puncher, scissors, index cards, sand paper. 

Procedure: 

 You will grab you index card and do a hole in one side with the hole puncher, then i will grab the yard and don a knot in the hole of the index card. We are going to do the same thing with the sandpaper, then the cups have to be place one on top of another but in the middle you have to put the index card therefore you are able to move the index card pulling it from the yarn and it will show the audience how the cups land perfectly together one on top of the other. But it does not happen the same thing with the sandpaper and this will show that  friction affects the sandpaper and not the index card

TEK4.7 Force, motion, and energy. The student knows the nature of forces and the patterns of their interactions. The student is expected to plan and conduct descriptive investigations to explore the patterns of forces such as gravity, friction, or magnetism in contact or at a distance on an object.

STATION 5

Magnetic slime 

This is a very interactive experiment to do with the family and everyone can safely participate and see what happens when a magnet comes in contact with another magnet. 

Materials: Iron powder, big round bowl, elmer's glue, corn starch, spoon, gloves, big round magnets.

Procedure: 

First you will grab the round bowl and pour the iron powder with a good measure of the corn starch and then you will mix the glue and just keep mixing until is no longer sticky.

Design a simple experimental investigation that tests the effect of force on an object in a system such as a car on a ramp or a balloon rocket on a string.

Balloon rockets

Families are going to love this interactive experiment as well, they are going to be able to compete with other parents and students to see whos balloon make it to the finish line first. And see the effect on forces, is this experiment we see that to an action there is a reaction and how the air that escapes is pushing out in every direction and so its moving forward.  

Materials: 

Yarn string, balloons, straws, tape.

Procedure:

Cut a long piece of yarn and put a straw through the yarn then tape the yarn in the wall on one side, then inflate a balloon and attach it to the 10 cm straw with a piece of tape without letting the air of the balloon escape. 

Now you can start the race and see which balloon gets to the end first. 

STATION7:

Demonstrate and explain how light travels in a straight line and can be reflected, refracted, or absorbed.

Light absorption, reflected and refracted

We will test the different things that happen when the light is passing through different objects and if it's being absorbed, reflected or refracted. 

Materials: 

Tissue paper, bowl of water, compact mirror, cardboard, paper, plastic wrap, wax wrap, aluminum foil, led flashlight gummy bears red and green, laser pointer red and green.  

Procedure:

First we will test the flash light and the tissue paper of color we will put in directly in the flashlight and see if the light passes through the light. 

Then we will switch to wax paper and check if the light still passes through, same thing with the plastic wrap and aluminum we will check what happens when the light is covered with these materials.

We will do the same thing with the gummy bears we will put 3 of the red ones in a line and 3 of the green ones is another line and  point the laser to see if the light is being absorbed and see what happens when we point the flash light. 

Lastly we will point the light towards the cardboard and then a bowl of water (we can also use the laser and point in through the water to see what it does and see the resultus and explain more thoroughly.
