Classroom Resources: This is a classroom resource for students. It is a word wall that students can refer to when practicing their reading, writing, and letters. This is a great tool to help students succeed in reading.

I think that having a word wall up is extremely helpful for early readers. There is so much you can do with a word wall. They can even come up with fun sentences using the words on this wall.

Classroom Resources: This is an area where students can use these manipulatives for learning in various ways. These items help with fine motor skills, patterns, counting, and more. Students are only permitted to use these items when instructed.

I want to also have my manipulatives placed in an orderly way. I will also remind my students that these are only for specific times of day and are not to just play with.

Managing Behavior: Students are assigned a table. The teacher assigns table points for positive behavior. Whichever table had the most points at the end receives a sticker for their water bottle, folder, or to take home. This is a great way to encourage the students to work together and build positive relationships, as well as be held accountable. I would use this same strategy as one way to encourage positive behavior.

Managing Behavior: During the first week of school, the teacher sat down with the students and came up with 5-6 rules for the classroom. She had the students sign it to hold themselves accountable. She reminds the students of these rules throughout the week as needed. This is a great reminder of what the expectations are for the classroom.

I want to come up with classroom rules with the collaboration of my students. I will also put them up for the students to be reminded of. I also think that signing it gives them accountability.

Managing Behavior: The school has their school wide PBIS. They have READY expectations that every student must follow to create a safe, active, fun, learning environment. If students do not follow these school/classroom wide procedures, there is a hierarchy of consequences that are followed. As students are seen following these expectations, they are rewarded with READY tickets. They can turn in these tickets for different prizes.

I think that each school typically has their own version of READY expectations. I will follow what the school does. I will also have my own list of classroom rewards that the students can use as incentives for positive behavior. For example, if students have 25 READY tickets, they can have lunch in the classroom.

Classroom Resources: These books are part of the classroom library. They are used as guided reading instruction for students. Students will receive a level of reading that is appropriate for the. This is another way to differentiate instruction. There are multiple levels to accommodate different reading skills.

As we know, students are all at different levels of learning. We never want anyone to feel frustrated that they can't read a text that we give them. It is important that we provide them with a reading level book that challenges them but isn't so hard that they want to give up. These books are a great resource for all students.
