I am constantly worrying about my future - what university I'm going to go to, my career choice, where I'm going to live. Everyday I'm stressing about school, my homework and assignments so that I will be able to have a good future. However, I need to stop worrying so much about my future destination and focus on the present. I need to enjoy the time I have before it's all gone. It is a significant symbol, not only in today's day and age, but all throughout Canada's history. Even before the European settlers arrived, maple became a part of life for the aboriginals as they discovered how to use maple sap for food. In 1965, it made it's way on to the national flag of Canada. The maple leaf is not important just because of it's abundance, but it has come to be a symbol of our country's independence, pride, and freedom. Independence from Britain when we created our own flag, freedom as it waves in the countries our soldiers fought in, and pride, as it's on anything and everything Canadian. This is what I believe Canada represents. It has even made it to number 8 on the top ten national symbols of Canada. It provides valuable resources and it's beauty inspires anyone who lays their eyes upon it. I have always loved nature and the outdoors, ever since my childhood. I would be outside all day every day with my friends running through the forest and wading through streams. This flag symbolizes unity between all the regions and people that came together to form the country Romania. Each colour represents a different region, which is a bit like how my family comes from different parts of Romania. The flag also symbolizes the struggles the people of Romania went through in the fight against communism during the 1980s. These are struggles that my own parents had to endure. During the reign of communism, the flag had a communist symbol in the middle. however, during the revolution, Romanians ripped that symbol from the flag, leaving it bare. Romanians fought for a democracy and they won. Again, similar to how my family came to be. All the different parts of the shield represent a different region. The eagle represents courage, determination, and power, all characteristics I strive to have. It is also a symbol of pride for Romania, and even though I am now a citizen of Canada , I am still very proud of my roots.

I don't even mind airports and flying on airplanes, in fact, I find them to be quite exciting. I enjoy learning about new people, cultures, and histories. My whole life, I've grown as a part of two very different cultures, Romanian, and Canadian. This is what I believe fueled my passion.
