I learned that it helps when pls hear from other pls and not just us. It was cool seeing pls saying "ohh look I have done this at my site or I was able to do the same with me kids"

I got to see different regions PLs talking to each other. Lots of smiles and laughter. The smell of the tacos soooo delicious!!! Students performance!!! We had an amazing speaker.

We are growing as an organization and have a lot of new staff who need our support/guidance.

Festive vibes: balloons, music playing in the background. Organized. Team work: everyone was helping out. Vendors: very thoughtful and generous to provide to staff.

it felt like we were finally starting the creation of the new ASAS-LA culture of truly believing in the change every individual in the org can make. We are a community of amazing individuals of passion & we CAN be the premier after-school organization.

The importance of creating an environment that promotes community building as an org. Strength in numbers! I saw PLs cheering each other on at the booths and it was very heartwarming.

Only thing I would change would be adding discussion groups with PLs to mingle and say ideas to each other. Having like a prepping circle.

How important it is to take time to acknowledge and celebrate our staff. Also the importance behind showcasing the possibilities of what they can provide at their sites. Staff are still referencing things they saw at the event.

Truly believe, ALL staff who attended should have walked away with staff T-Shirt. No exceptions. EX: If staff are present they are provided with a t-shirt. If they did not register due to being new, go to room #00 and get a shirt, having all sizes available is a must.

In the future the date land on when there aren't other competing events. LAUSD had orientations, Alliance had similar events, and Brightstar had trainings that overlapped with this day so would recommend pivoting if necessary. May also consider doing multiple (East LA area, South LA Area, the Valley for example).

All of leadership should be aware of what the plan for the day is with everyone knowing what their assignments are

create it as a rotation of cluster of regions to make it more intentional. alot of people together and it makes it not as intentional just more of a gathering.. Love the idea of region challenges

Shorten the arrival window to 30 minutes. People who got there at 9am were standing around for a long time without anything to do and didn't have access to go inside until 15ish minutes before

Run icebreakers and team builders for the staff to see they can be done in bigger groups. Run activities on stage for staff to represent their site/region. Allow a booth for talking pieces/recommendations. A podcast booth that the Yabbies/students can interview PLs/PCs.

Food: let's work on being more inclusive with the choices of food for other ethnicities. I personally LOVED the food but other ethnicities need to see their culture be included.

Not letting speakers run on too long. Communication should be short, sweet, and purposeful so that it can be most effective. Having something somewhat long-winded right before lunch is a dangerous game. Maybe having someone more relevant to PLs versus relevant to supervisors would be more effective.
