         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. <strong> To announce, introduce, or direct attention to a list, a noun or noun phrase, a quotation, or an example/explanation.  </strong>This is used to give attention to what you introduce.<br><em>ex. </em> My parents gives me everything that I need: support and love.<strong><br><br></strong>2. <strong>To join sentences. </strong>We can use colon if the second sentence gives information on the first.<br><em>ex</em>. The school is fun: it helps me learn a lot. <strong><br><br></strong>3. <strong>To express time, in titles, and as part of other writing conventions.<br></strong>Colons are used to separate units of time.<strong><br></strong><em>ex.</em><strong> </strong>I will arrive at exactly 9:30.<br><br>Colons are used to separate titles from the subtitle.<br><em>ex</em>. Everest: The Last Frontier.<br><br>Colons are used in salutation of a letter.<br><em>ex</em>. To whom it may concern:<br>       Sir/Ma'am:</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. <strong>To help separate items in a list, when some of those items already contain commas. </strong>This is when there are already commas used in a sentence.<strong><br></strong><em>ex</em><strong>.</strong> I bought loose, faded pants; bright, colorful shorts; and cool, printed t-shirts.<strong><br><br></strong>2. <strong> To join two sentences. </strong>Semi-colons is used when using two independent clauses.<br><em>ex</em>. I went to SM Pampanga today; I bought clothes;  pants, shorts, t-shirts are on sale.</div>]]></description>
