My POV:

In my opinion, i agree with Marx's theory and has a valid point that the upper class takes advantage of the lower class. The upper class knows that the lower class would do anything to get money despite the risk. What drives this chaos is money preventing equality and stability from happening in this world. Up to this day the pyramid of capitalist system is still happening. Think about it, here in Belize the prime minister is at the top setting out rules followed by the other ministers and some religious leaders to enforce and convince the people that what they are doing is for the good of our country, then we have the police which help maintain law and order , next the middle class people which feed into what is being said. Lastly we have the labor workers the ones who hold up the whole pyramid, they are the ones doing all the hard work yet they gain nothing good out of it. They are unaware that they have a voice that can make a change and fight for their equality but the upper class has instilled upon them that where they are is where they belong. The relationship between the people and their government suffers from a tragic alienation preventing the chance of communism in the world.

If I'm being honest this whole time I thought culture was about how a person looked and what they believe in and has to do mainly with tradition, up until now I know that culture has to do with both race and ethnicity plus a persons life style. Take for example the Garinagu people in Belize people don't only classify them as Garinagu for the color of their skin or for their ethnicity being a mix of African and Indigenous Caribbean, no, we know they are Garinagu for their proud black white and yellow colors and their attire. We also know them from the traditions that are held on the 19th of November, such as their punta dance and catchy music, the Anansi stories that bring most of us back to primary school and lets not forget their mouth watering hudut. All this was kept alive through generations, it is beliefs and practices they share among others and now they share it with the entire country of Belize despite their culture.

During the lessons I understood the difference between a role conflict and a role strain but wasn't sure on a good example to provide for each. So basically a role conflict is when a person's expected behavior for one status interferes with the behavior or another. For example a manager has to fire an employee but the employee is one of their family members. So their role as a manager conflicts directly with their roles as being a family member. On the other hand a role strain is when a status had more roles that there might be some roles that include thinking and considering preferences for each. Example my mom who is a house wife has to balance her roles for being a mother of 2. She has to cook for the family, clean the house take me and my brother to school, go shopping and many more roles fall under which can be overwhelming with too much responsibility under her status as a mother.

The way I view and learned all these is to understand this as if it was a bad recipe. Take stereotype as the flawed ingredient list ("All people from Group X are lazy"). Prejudice is the bad taste in your mouth when you think about the recipe. Discrimination is you refusing to serve the dish to someone from Group X. Racism is a famous chef publishing that bad recipe in a best-selling cookbook, convincing everyone it's true and changing food standards everywhere.
