This value means that Americans try to get as much education as their abilities and finances allow. This is shown throughout America today. Most every student wants to go to college and in order to get the highest paying jobs one needs to get extra years of schooling like med school or law school. Students get upset when they don't receive a desired grade which shows how Americans care and value education greatly.

This value means that there is a high value on personal success and beating others. This is very evident in American culture today.

This value states that Americans expect people to work hard and to be busily engaged in some activity even when not at work. I mostly agree with this statement because a lot of the time, individuals feel pressured to be doing something productive at all times. Though I think that there is more room for free time than the value suggested, it true that people are expected to be busy. After researching, I found that the millennial generation specifically feels pressure to be extremely productive more than past generations did.

Americans are passionate about applied science to control nature (tame rivers, harness winds) and develop new technology. Many people spend their careers hoping to further science by making a discovery not yet known by the world. Science goes back to Isaac Newton's laws of motion, then to the discovery of electricity, and to now when people develop new technology like complex Apple computers or phones. There have been large developments in science and technology due to the great amount of passion Americans have for it.

By this term, Americans refer to majority rule, to the right of everyone to express an opinion, and to representative government. When President Trump was elected, the majority of Americans voted for Clinton, the other candidate, however, Trump won because the majority of electoral college voted for Trump. This has happened in past elections as well where the popular vote has not matched up with electoral vote.

Americans tend to expect some sort of material comfort whether it's something for their health or something like a phone to make them feel safe. The majority of teenagers and adults depend on their phones for everything. Many feel uncomfortable or feel like something is wrong when they don't have their phone in their hand. They use a phone as material comfort even if they aren't calling/ texting anyone or playing a game, but rather their phone comforts them just by being on them.

Recently Hurricane Florence destroyed North and South Carolina leaving many people without a home and other necessary resources. People throughout America donated their money to help their fellow Americans in need.

This should we added to the values list because it is very important to society today. Americans spend hours watching Netflix and you tube. We also spend a lot of money to go to shows, concerts, movies, amusement parks, carnivals, water parks etc. It is obviously important to Americans that they have fun and get to relax and take a break from work and school.
