Hinton, Johnny and Ponyboy and his brothers are Greasers that live in the East Side in constant fear of the rich Socs. Johnny killed a Soc that attacked him and Ponyboy and almost killed Ponyboy. They feared being caught so they ran away to an abandoned church with the help of one of their gang members. The church later catches on fire and Johnny gets fatally injured after saving several kids. Later, their gang gets in a big rumble with the Socs while Johnny is in the hospital dying. After Johnny’s death, Ponyboy pretended Johnny wasn’t dead, and later was able to face reality by writing down his story. The Outsiders by S.E. Because of this Johnny killed Bob and causes more conflict later on in the story. For example, she set up the plot so Johnny ran into the fire and later died.
