The first pro of a smartphone camera is as I stated before the accessibility of the smartphone, and with there being more smartphones than people in the world, most people will have access to one and are therefore more likely to have one with us when we see a good photo opportunity. Compared to DSLR cameras smartphones seem to be the better option.

Another pro of a smartphone is that it is easy to edit a photo taken. With the many different free apps on the various app stores it is easy to download one and edit a photo with no wires required. Which compared to the options when editing a photo on a DSLR camera the free apps on smartphones it seems that editing photos is easier and more efficient on a phone.

A final pro of a smartphone camera is that they are the cheaper option. With the costs of most phones being close to that of most cheaper DSLRs it seems that the smartphone cameras are much more affordable. But that does not mean that a smartphone is the better option for my PI.

A disadvantage of smartphones is that they have limited amounts of space. When taking one photo a smartphone it is easy to store that photo but when taking up to 36 photos (not including the ones that don’t make it into the shoot – accidental or repeated photos) every other week it will begin to fill up the storage on the smartphone and I will need to keep digital versions of my shoots. This is where it becomes clear that a DSLR is the better option as they use interchangeable DS cards that can store thousands of photos.

Another disadvantage of smartphone cameras is that they restrict the user on what kinds of photos they take. For example, if I wanted to take a macro picture of a cactus it would look like this:

But if I take a picture of the same cactus on my DSLR camera I get this (at the bottom).

In conclusion this clearly shows that both a smartphone camera and a DSLR camera have different qualities and capabilities and that they where made for two completely different purposes. A smartphone is for taking casual photos while out and about and a DSLR is for taking more detailed and better quality and more professional photos, because of this a DSLR is more suitable for my

The photo is lit up by natural lighting and is brighter at the bottom bringing the viewer to look at the yellow banner across the bottom of the picture. The photo is taken from the ground up to the stands this makes it seem like it has more people in it. The photo has no central focus and seems to have a deep depth.

Brassai was a Hungarian-French photographer born in Hungary in 1899 he moved to France (Paris) in 1924. Once moving to Paris, he joined a group of Hungarian artists and writers. He would travel around his neighbourhood and documented prostitutes, street cleaners and others. In 1933 he published his book Paris de Nuit (Paris by night) that included 64 of his photos.

This photo creates a light eerie atmosphere with the beams of light creating surreal pattens on the floor.

The high vantage point also adds to the surreal atmosphere as it makes Brassai seem separate and isolated to the people from the people in the station.

The contrast between the people in the station and the bright natural light makes the people stand out more drawing the viewers’ attention to them.
