This quote was said by the 3rd juror, who ironic as it is, is prejudice against the defendant. This statement withholds the theme by promoting justice, regardless of personal prejudice or bias. This statement is one of the many strongholds of our judicial system and is maintained throughout the play by the eighth juror.

This quote represents the corrupted mindsets of the jurors. The jurors believe that they are entitled to their opinion, which shields them from the truth. They so are blinded by personal prejudices, they are unable to open their minds to the 8th juror's perspective. This belief further proves the theme, by showing the ignorance that comes with a corrupted mindset.

The eighth juror states that any form of personal prejudice obscures the truth, further proving the main theme in this play. He is the only juror who is completely unbiased and has made it his mission to open the minds of the other jurors. In order for this case to be just, the eighth juror reminds the others to keep all forms of discrimation out of the case and focus on instilling justice where justice is deserved.
