How Ratliff describes closeness is basically " two musicians, or musical elements, acting in the purest coordination" which he also mentions that "tends to escape us because we can't see it". I could not agree more with him since it is true, it's rare for me to even notice how some instruments are perfectly synchronized or when singers synchronize their voice to where the song sounds aesthetically beautiful. The first personal example that I thought and that Ratliff also mentions is The Beatles.
