Knowing deep down no one can hear them so giving pity by saying hopefully, if no one else, God will hear you. This is pathos I feel because it shows pity and really hits home for me and others.

The speaker is the teenager that Isaac met while working at a camp. Filled with troubles and not knowing how to solve any of the problems he had, feeling hopeless and stuck not knowing how to live the rest of his life. Another speaker could be the people around the troubled kid. Explaining how hard it is not knowing how to help or assist their kid. 
O. Isaac Slade wrote this song because he was influenced while working at a camp for troubled teenagers. He stated that one of his teenagers he was paired with was a musician. Stating the teenager was just 17 years old with all of these problems and no one could write a manual on how to save him. 
A. In this perspective, it’s to someone who is watching a child struggle and not knowing what to do or how to help. Or it could be that someone is oblivious to what is happening to a child. It’s a hard thing to go through so I feel like this song’s audience is directed at people who have gone through losing someone. It could also be for people who are going through a grieving process from losing someone to know they’re not alone in how they feel. 
P. The purpose behind this song is to show that younger people can struggle just as much if not more than any person older. To show and bring awareness to depression. I also feel the purpose could be to show that we’re not alone as a generation.  
S. Learning how to love through pain and troubled emotion. In this specific piece is about teens and their battles with depression I also could see it’s showing how to reach out for help and how adults can react to the reaching out. 
T. It’s a very sad slow solemn song. Not very upbeat and more so dragging on the depressed theme. Mentioning how you lost someone and working through the sadness of feeling like you’re not enough.
