It comes with three different tiers. The first tier is when all learners receive high quality instruction. The second is when 10-15% of the students need a little more intention or help. Lastly the third is when the students need more help and need special education services. I learned that this is very important when helping your students and knowing who needs a little more of a push and support.

The Diagnostic taught me to keep a conversation going with my students instead of just a 'yes' or a 'no' answer. It has taught me how important it is to be clear to my students when it comes to assignments or any lesson. I also have to be clear with any rubric. I really do think that it is an important part of a students life because it gives them an insight of what they are good at and what they need to work on. It also gives me as a teacher an understanding of how they are feeling towards the subject. I can then find ways to help them feel more confident about it and help them succeed. I chose this method for a discussion because it is an easy way of me knowing where they are. My classmates also had great ideas, such as Marthas idea. A great way to keep students engaged with what fractions are they need to know why they are learning it. When I start teaching I will start of a lesson by showing some fun examples of fractions and where they will use it in real life. Since it was something I went through when I was younger I think it extremely important to make sure all students feel welcome, safe and included. It might be hard sometimes but whatever you can do those students will feel so grateful and happy because of the time and effort you are putting as a teacher. During class I was able to watch a video and get a feeling of how some students feel when they don't understand something and they still try their best and that is what counts. While looking at it the first thing that caught my eye was how they wrote everything out in English and in Spanish. Yes there are great online games and sources but it is good to have hand on activities and get their eyes and brain a break from the screen. Or you can do both.
