Work piles on quickly in high school. Usually during first semester I put off my homework and would do it during break or lunch right before the class. In the end, it didnt do much for me because I didnt learn the material and I missed out on time with my friends. I wish I had just taken the time to do it at home or come in during reinforcements instead of missing time with my friends.

I really recommend you to do homework as soon as possible because I left homework for the last day or sometimes I didn't do it, and every day you get homework so they start to accumulate and this becomes horrible. I one week decided not to do anything and homework started to accumulate and at the end of the week I had a lot to do. At the end I didn't do it, but I received consequences. You might think that studying until 2 am in order to understand everything is the best option, but it isn't. Sometimes its better to go to sleep at 11 and only study 2 hours, than to go to bed at 3 and studying 4 hours. I always put sleep before excessive studying, and it always worked. I saw people falling asleep in exams because they slept 2 hours and studied 8.

There is a lot of change in the amount of homework they give you. In middle school, we barely had homework. Now, we have everyday and from a lot of classes so you have to be prepared. It is important to know how to manage your time, and do the homework the day they give it to you, don't leave things for last minute, I regret that. When my homework accumulates I have to stay up very late, and work on it very tired, so evade that.

In 9th grade there is always a lot of activity going on, I mean work activity. You will always have work no matter what and every one is as important as the other. Once I missed a math class because I was sick, that day they learned something new and I wish I had catch up or went to reinforcements to understand what I missed because the next school day that I went there was a quiz (which I did not know) about that lesson learned that day and be sure my quiz was really low. If I had stayed in reinforcements and understood the lesson I would of had a better grade and catch up on what I missed. I know all your life you had been told this, mine too but this year I learned that it is not to bother you or just a talk, it is something that can really help you and if it is available why wouldn't you use it and more in a year so charged like 9th grade.

Si tu sientes que necesitas ayuda porque no entiendes un tema, o que te fue mal en un trabajo, lo mejor que puedes hacer es quedarte un after a hacer lo necesario. Un estudiante no se quedo a recuperar por que no entendía y terminó perdiendo el examen. Me puse feliz cuando pase el examen pq me quede en after a pedir ayuda.

Finals in High School are very different than the ones in middle school. Sometimes for the Middle School finals I didnt even study and got a good grade, but it is important to realize that in high School it is very different. The finals are more intense and they require more study time. Also don't just study everything, make note of what was in the study guide and review that.

You can always recuperate grade and bring them up if you stay in reinforcements or break or lunch. If you do bad on a exam, talk with your teacher and stay in reinforcements to bring up your grade easily. For example, one time I did not studied for a test and I got a 1, but I talked to my teacher and she let me study and stay in reinforcements and I could bring the grade up from a 1 to a 3.5

In 9th grade many things change. A great example is homework. As you go into high school you need to start managing your time wisely. As soon as yo get an assignment it is better to do it right away and not push it away for the day before it is due. I remember the week before finals; it was a very stressing week. The amount of work that I had to do was insane. Sadly I managed my time in a way were I left everything for last minute and every single assignment was due the other day. This affected the quality of my work and didn't get the grade I wanted. So I don't recommend what I did. I recommend you manage your time in better way so you don't affect your grades negatively.

in the first semester i always procrastinated and left the work the day before it was due. Even though i did it rushed I got a good grade. This was just luck, it doesn't happen often, I asked for a friend to help me. I believe that if it wasn't for a friend i would have failed 1st semester.

you always have to come prepared and with an idea of what you will do. For some classes the teacher will tell you to complete certain work so that in reinforcements she check's it and It will be much easier. I truly recomend not coming to the class and ask the teacher what you should do to get your grade up, or start complaining. In my experience some times I've comed prepared and I've been able to get my grade up. But also in some classes like my math class I forgot to do my test corrections for homework and ther is no way you can recuperate it.

Advice: Always ask if you can recuperate an assessment if you are unhappy with your grade. You never know what you can do to improve until you ask!
Usually, at the beginning of first semester I never asked if I could recuperate things and therefore, I had pretty bad grades, but then I started to recuperate and I ended the year with a 3.8 GPA.
Something that made me happy was when I asked Ms. Morgan if I could recuperate for a conclusion of a lab report and she gladly let me.
Something I wish I would have done is asked from the very beginning of the year that way my grades could have been higher.

Mi consejo es que se esfuerzan mucho para finales, pero lo más importantes es entrar con calma y con confianza.
Una anécdota es que el ultima final no lo hizo al máximo porque ya estaba desperado por salir a vacaciones. Lo acaba al ultimo minuto
Me hizo feliz cuando acaba los exámenes sentir que me había esforzado y que había valido la pena esforzarme, cuando acaba podia respirar y sentir calma.
Estudiera un poquito más organizado y tendría mas paciencia para hacer el ultimo final.

when a teacher give you class work don't distract with your friends first do  the work and they you will easily have free time.

Math: write everything down and use a highlighter to show the most important thing or the trickiest for you, you could also write side notes on what you don't get. Plus it would be very useful to find a friend who you understand.

English: find something you truly love to read. I know it is hard because I am not a big fan of it my self but this year you will emphasize more in this area. This is a very fun class so just enjoy the projects and don't leve them until te last day possible.

ECAL: here you will read a lot and a simple trick for this class is that everything that you will study in it is liked together so you can use things from other semesters, notes, etc. What you will study in the second semester is stuff you have studied since 2 so try to use what you remember to seem smart.

Spanish: READ! you will have tons of books so just read them it won't kill you at the end it will be better for you.

Bio: Pay a lot of attention in class. this one is also very fun! But it is also very confusing so just try to enjoy all the different activities but at the same time be conscious of what you are supposed to learn.

Etica: This class is a breeze but don't EVER get fabian mad because he is capable of waking you up from the dream we call life (you will learn moe about the in his class.)

ALL: when you are feeling confused or overwhelmed on one of the classes take a brake go to one of the teachers room and tell them what you have learned, they will then tell you what is right what is wrong and what you are missing. It can also come in handy to have a fiend in 10 grade who is willing to talk to you about school. REMEMBER EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS FROM 9 GRADE ON WILL COUNT FOR THR REST OF YOUR LIFE AND YOUR COLLAGE! COLLAGE!

There's been many times when I was unsure of something we've seen in class, I was generally lazy or embarrassed to go to the teacher because everyone else understood and due to that I ended up messing up many questions in exams. Consejo: mantener una actitud positiva y estar dispuesto a aprender en la clase de biología.

Anécdota: debido a que el año pasado teníamos solo ciencias como materia y no biología, el cambio fue grande y personalmente fue difícil ya que al principio no lo maneje como debí haber hecho.

Algo que me hizo feliz: aunque el cambio es difícil, y los temas son nuevos, Mrs. Morgan va a estar absolutamente siempre ahi para explicarte todo las veces que sean necesarias. Se siente una gran satisfacción poder entender y a sí mismo explicar con un nivel avanzado el tema a la clase.

Its a big change... At the beginning it won't seem as a big change but later on you will see. This is not like middle school everything you do from now on counts. Don't be lazy, you won't have as many options as you did in middle school. For me the biggest change is the homework probably in 8th grade you had only a little bit of homework and you had lots of free time. But in 9th grade there is A LOT of homework. And you need to do it, it's a big part of your grade. Also remember from now on everything you do matters.

1. The closest one in date
2. The hardest.
3. The ones with cheat sheets allowed
4. The easy ones.

advice: don't leave the studying for finals till the day before.

Last semester I left the studying for Ethics, Spanish and Math till the day before. This was a problem since when I had questions I couldn't ask the teacher for help. It also cause me to not sleep well and be tiered for the final. I could have prevent this if I hace completed the study guieds before. Fortunately I was able to show my knowledge of the subject and get a good grade. For next I i will study earlier and ask questions if needed.

9th grade is a big change from Middle School. The moment you enter high school you can feel the change. You will suddenly get a lot more homework so it is important to manage your time wisely. Don't fall behind on your classes and try to complete assignments as soon as possible (Do not procrastinate).

Resting is important but be aware that homework and class work are important too. They will affect you grade and you overall developement. Think ahead of time. Think in the future and how you will probably be stressed out doing work right before the deadline.

I wish I could've done this more and I will definitely start trying. I f you're not understanding a class, stay afterschool. Don't wait for a test to recuperate. Don't feel embarrased if you feel like you're the only one who doesn't get it. It'll always be better to understand the topic first and let your teacher know if you're not understanding anything.

Finals in 9th grade are very different than the ones you got in middle school.

When I was in 8th grade it was very easy to get perfect scores on finals and I normally did without even studying but when you get to 9th grade make sure you give yourself enough time to study for each class. I left all the studying for last minute and did not do as good as I wanted to.
So make sure you give yourself enough time to study for each exam, and if allowed by your teacher complete your cheat sheets.

I have a lot of trouble concentrating when I work at home because of my short attention span. I managed to fix that habit by taking breaks in between my work times and completing my homework or studying during intervals. I wished I would have find out about that strategy sooner as homework makes a huge part of your grade.

Reinforcements are really useful

Try to use reinforcements as much as you can. I haven't really used reinforcements as much as I should. I believe recuperating is one of the best things you can put your time in. It helps boost your grade and the teachers give your extra help so you can understand your weaker topics better.

You have to pay close attention and when you do not get the point you can go and talk to the teacher. Study really hard on this subject.
Something that made me very happy in Math was that when I study the subject for a quiz or project you are going to succeed.

Always, always, always before an assessment ask any questions to your teachers even things that you may not understand that may sound very obvious or stupid. Just ask never be left with doubts. It'll really be helpful to expand concepts on your assessment

You will never understand things in math class the first time. You need to always talk with the teacher or stay in reinforcements to undertand good. For example once I thought I understood what she taught us that class but then the next they she made a pop quiz and got a low grade.

Biology

Always pay close attention in this class. Ms. Morgan Is a very good teacher and will explain if you need help and ASK. It is one of the most important classes to be attentive in as Biology is complex and you can't miss out on detail so if you're the kind that gets distracted, keep that in mind in biology and take all the notes you can.

Choose your honors classes wisely. There are some classes which can be quite challenging, for example Biology Honors. Choose what you are interested in and good at or the work load will be too much.

It's always better to be open to the opportunity of new friends and new people. We are very lucky to be part of a year that is really inclusive and tolerant towards other people, so you don't really have to worry about what other people think of you. I had a really bad experience with a former friend of mine who only cared about whether people liked her or not, and her attitude towards everything was really crappy. Don't change who you are just to "fit in" because people notice you're trying too hard and they'll push you away.

Nunca dejes el estudio para el final. Lamentablemente tuve que aprender esto de la manera dura después de trasnocharme todos los días estudiando para finales. Cuando llegaba al examen tenia mucho sueño y por ello no pude dar mi mejor esfuerzo. Ahora mirando en retrospectiva me doy cuenta que esto no fue la mejor decisión y que era preferible estudiar poco y dormir más.

An advice I have is to take your time to study, even if you think it is too much. You will need to study hard to complete your study guides and then study more to learn your material. The last finals I wanted to succeed so, I stayed for the entire weekend studying. One thing that made me happy was that I did very well on my finals. One thing that I would not repeat would be nothing and a thing I wanted to do but couldn't was to study my study guides better.

BE very careful with math, because sometimes you wont understand you have to let her know that you are struggling, this happened to me on the first semester, where we were learning a lot of stuff and I wasnt understanding, I never told the teacher and I ended up doing very bad. It's not good to stay up late studying for a test and only getting 5 hours of sleep. Study as long as your body allows it, if you get sleepy then go to sleep. It's not healthy staying up until so late, much less when you have to wake up early the next day. I'm glad I did this during the first semester but I also regret I didn't complete many of the study guides.

Start homework and projects the day you get them.Usually they are very long and time demanding.

What happened to me once was I left a spanish project for last minute and I stayed up really late finishing it and the results were not that great.

In Ict calss you need to do the work on the class or you need to lose you free time to complete

Don't sweat it. Finals will be exceptionally harder this year and getting a mediocre grade does not mean you're a bad student. Tip: Get as much studying done as you can until you feel confident with your understanding but you DO NOT have to stay up to 3 am. Sleeping is important and its essential that you are well rested, not stressed and in a good state to take your exam. (Don't worry at the sight of 2's its normal and if you have an average to good grade you shouldn't worry.)j

In Ict if you do the work and you do not get a good grade and you complain you will end up with a bad grade. You have to listen very carefully for instructions and if you miss a particular point you will end up having a bad day.

Si en verdad quieres ser exitoso en los finales, recomiendo que abras las guías de estudio con anticipación. Nos paso a muchos que tuvimos muchas dudas con el examen final de matemáticas del primer semestre ya que abrimos la guía de un día a otro.
