A round crispy treat from the Balkans, Banitsa is prepared by layering a mixture of whisked eggs, natural yogurt, and pieces of feta cheese between filo pastry and then baking it in an oven. This traditional Bulgarian meal is a symbol of Bulgarian cuisine and traditions, as historically, Bulgarians prepare and serve Banitsa on two holidays – Christmas and New Year's Eve. On these days, people add kusmeti (literally lucks, meaning fortunes) into the banitsa. However, nowadays, this delicious pastry treat can be prepared all-year around in every household or found even in the smallest of street bakeries. Banitsa is most often served with plain yogurt, ayran, or boza and has many varieties depending on its filling. It can be eaten hot or cold.

The accompanied drink is a fermented malt beverage with a thick consistency and a slightly acidic sweet flavor called boza. The two dishes complement each other very well and are very deer to most Bulgarians, bringing back their childhood memories, however, this drink may have a very strange taste for foreigners.

Made with papermache , newspaper and cutlery

This lead to a massive investigation into the industry and the processes that these companies went through in their businesses. This did not just affect Ireland, but many places worldwide that also investigated their own industries. It was a large embarrassment for Ireland as it exports a lot of meat abroad.

There were many companies involved that had products pulled from shops from burgers to minced 'beef'. Ever since this occurred, the price of beef rose considerably and honestly, the meat hasn't been as nice.
