Robert Millikan:
- Born March 22, 1868
- Graduated from Oberlin College in 1891
- Performed the oil-drop experiment in 1910
- Received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1923
- Died Decemeber 19, 1953

----- The oil-drop experiment performed by Robert Millikan determined the size of the charge on an electron. He determined this by putting a charge on a drop of oil. He then measured how strong the electricity applied had to be to prevent the droplet from falling. By accumulating the mass of the oil drop and the force of gravity, he could then figure out the unit of charge the electron was carrying.

< en.m.wikipedia.org >
< ffden-2.phys.uaf.edu >
