I use check for understanding as we read. This happens throughout our reading. I use thumb up/down. I also will prompt questions which the students answer individually or in small groups.
We will do a Kahoot "Exit ticket" at the end of each reading.

We will review the vocabulary words or a selected few words for the reading. Before I read to them I ask prior knowledge on what we have learned previously. I will read aloud the story or the passages to the whole class first. As I read, I will prompt questions or ideas that relate to inference. We will then read the passages over with volunteers. After our second reading,  the worksheet provided will ask questions that the student must pull the answer from the story clues to infer what they think will happen next. We will work on a few questions together.
