She is dating Troy, they are very different. In the last movie everyone is seniors and they are trying to figure out what college to go to. During the movie Gabriella realizes she doesn't actually want to go to the college that her PARENTS have dreamed about her going to. so during the whole movie she's tying to figure what she really wants and ends up just trusting in herself and what she really wants.

While he's there he realizes that he just needs to be confident in who he is and really trust himself.
