         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><ul><li>In preparation for difficult conversation, from the practitioners view it can help to acknowledge and verbalise the difficultness in the conversation&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>Optimal preparation is not always possible, try your best&nbsp;<br><br><br></li><li>Sincerity and empathy are key to understand patients<ul><li>If crying or sobbing occurs, changing your delivery to a softer stance can help the next of kin dealing with the bad news<br><br><br></li></ul></li><li>It is important to be unambiguous in delivering tough messages. Therefore, pay attention to finding the right balance between being unambiguous whilst not being unnecessarily harsh in regards to wording and certain phrases. &nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>Call attention to the fact that the conversation will be difficult to both the recipient and the deliverer, e.g. by using the pronoun “we” instead of “I”</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>Attempt to figure out how much the recipient knows about the aftermath, potential logistical issues and how the person feels - prepare them for what might happen in the course of disease&nbsp;<br><br><br></li><li>It is important to underline that the conversation does not end between you and the patient, make sure to refer patients to someone else as they likely will need further support &nbsp;</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
