Mean: Average of set numbers
Median: Middle Number
Mode: Most often seen in a set of numbers....

Examples: 1,2,2,4,4,3,3,3 This is known as a mode due to the number three repeating itself.

12,8,24,32: 24 is known as the middle number this is a median.

12+15+16=43/3= 14.3 This is known as a Mean.

In the time of Aristotle in the year (384-322 BC) This is when Mean, Median and Mode came to be. Aristotle work on what Mean meant in statistics. Aristotle looked at the extended notation as mathematical means in a person daily life. His goals with it are way different then from what we mostly see aimed for in statistics when it comes to Mean, Median, and Mode.

In today's activity we will be getting in groups of 3 to 4 to find the Mean, Median and Mode. We will record how many claps we can make in thirty seconds on our charts. To find the Mean, Median and Mode of each group members clap.

Steps for the activity include:

Step 1: Explaining to the class what we are doing and what Mean, Median and Mode mean. We will have three people come to the board and work on a problem that deals with Mean< Mode and Median.

Step 2: I will choose groups by using Popsicle sticks that have colored stickers or by counting one, two ,three to each person. At this time each one of the groups will get their own charts. One for the group and one that we will look at as a class.

Step 3: Explain how to use each supply. I will also choose task for groups. I will also explain to them what is expected of them in each group.

Step 4: Once the first three steps are done i will let them work in their groups

Step 5: We will come back together as a class and look at the second chart and see what data each group has come up with.
