- On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men (https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS)
- 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have been victims of severe physical violence (e.g. beating, burning, strangling) by an intimate partner in their lifetime (https://ncadv.org/STATISTICS)
- Ages 12-34 are the highest risk years for rape and sexual assault (https://www.doorwaysva.org/our-work/education-advocacy/the-facts-about-sexual-assault/)
- American Indians are twice as likely to experience a rape/sexual assault compared to all races. 41% of sexual assaults against American Indians are committed by a stranger; 34% by an acquaintance; and 25% by an intimate or family member. (https://www.doorwaysva.org/our-work/education-advocacy/the-facts-about-sexual-assault/)

- I notice this part in the part of the book when Billy tried touching Jeanette and trying to do inappropriate things to her.
- Jeanette was impacted by the social event because she did not want that to happen and it happened to her but she did not tell anyone and she kind of kept it to herself.

- I notice this part in the book when Ernie was bullying them and abusing them by throwing rocks at them and making them feel like bad people.
- Jeanette was impacted during this event because she actually stood up herself and she knew her worth that time and she was sick of people treating her this way.

- Jeanette always grew up labeling Billy as an abuser and a bad person and she was proved to that when he forced her into doing things she did not want to do.
- Jeanette overcomes this because she kind of keeps it to herself and she did not tell anyone anything and she just lived past it in her life.
