The Hero Archetype

The hero archetype appears in many myths in different countries such as ancient Greek and British. Also, they use the hero archetype to explain the reason and the history of some constructions like temples and the division of some countries. Furthermore, in those countries, people admire heroes because of their bravery and loyalty. For example, in the Greek myth of King Odysseus, who is the king of Ithaca, he fought for his country and participated in the Trojan War. On the other hand, the King Arthur is another hero who fights for his country against people from other countries and monsters.

Works Cited
"Archetypes".
Archetypes for Literary Analysis, Hillsborough Community College, 2018, https://www.hccfl.edu/media/724354/archetypesforliteraryanalysis.pdf

"Arthur."
The Creature of Nightmare

The archetypal character of the creature of nightmare is mentioned in some myths from the United States as the legend of the Boggy Greek and in Mexico as the legend of Devil's Alley. The creature of nightmare is often a beast that comes from the darkest. For example, in the legend of the Boggy Greek, who is a monster or another version of Bigfoot, this is a character that used to live in Arkansas, southeast of Texarkana, and he was famous for killing chickens and dogs. Correspondingly, the legend of Devil's Alley is about the apparition of a horrible beast in an alley located in Mexico. The legend explains that while a young man tried to walk in the alley, he saw a figure, and the earth was sinking under his feet. Given these points, it is notable that the archetypal character of the creature of the nightmare is used in those myths to share stories by people from different countries.

Works Cited
"Archetypes."

These two myths are related to the Unhealable Wound Archetype. This myth has been a part of Hispanic culture in the Southwest since the days of the conquistadores. The weeping woman tells us about a woman who suffers even in death because she killed her children. The Katas Raj Temple tells us about the pond which has clear green water, is due to the creation of Lord Shiva’s tears. When his wife Satti passed away, Lord Shiva cried so much that his tears created two holy ponds- one in Katas Raj Temple and one in Ajmer, India.
Weiser, Kathy. Legends of America, Mar. 2017, www.legendsofamerica.com/gh-lallorona/.
Qayyum, Ameena. “5 Enchanting Myths from Pakistan.” SHUGHAL, 27 Oct. 2016, www.shughal.com/5-enchanting-myths-from-pakistan/.

Enkidu's death causes Gilgamesh to undertake a long and perilous journey to discover the secret of eternal life. He eventually learns that "Life, which you look for, you will never find. For when the gods created man, they let death be his share, and life withheld in their own hands".
