         <description><![CDATA[<div>Launching Unit 1 for SS we will begin by introducing Google Earth.&nbsp; Students will complete a Comparison Chart on Padlet showing the similarities and differences for where they live and other places in the world.<br><br>An end project will be creating a travel brochure.  They will create a flyer and Flip Grid for advertisements choosing a region and talking about the geography.  Students can use google slides, canva or actual paper and drawing tools to create their travel brochures. </div>]]></description>

Having heard the book read-aloud in class as well as reading it or listening to it on their own time will help with comprehension. <br>I also explored some TC Writing rubrics, to see how to modify them for students to understand them better when first exposed to them or when using their non-dominant language, especially those who lack the skills needed to read through a rubric.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Today I’ve reviewed some of my lesson plans to determine whether (or to what degree) my Goals, Methods, Materials, and Assessments incorporate the 3 principles of UDL (Representation, Action &amp; Expression, and Engagement) and thought about how I could make them more effective.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I work with ELL students with different abilities and learning preferences, so, as a first step, I’ve started working on a checklist that will help me address the variable learning needs and preferences of the 4 types of learners when planning my lessons. Delivering instruction in a variety of ways and expanding the options of materials and assessments should lead to better engagement and learning among my students.<br><br>I've attached a draft of the chart.</div>]]></description>

That is, moving shapes around the plane, and being accountable that they wind up in the right location, and that the new coordinated are correct.  Using the example of Longitude and Latitude and how GPS and Google Maps uses this grid system to locate places anywhere on earth and actually on other planets as well will show how powerful this work is.  We can also use the game Battleships to give more fluency with the plane, and maybe even the game, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?</div>]]></description>

This will be reinforced with a Nearpod about this same topic covering animal adaptations (a video w/ questions) about what they know. Building upon this, students will learn and create meaning for new vocabulary for fourth grade for this unit (defense, internal, external, structures and more). This can be done in stations. Canva will be utilized for students to create a presentation about animal structures for defense mechanisms.</div>]]></description>

We chose the content based upon data from the state examinations, I-Ready, formative and summative examinations. We analyzed and chose the historical data for the last three years. Our goal is to improve the whole child which will improve student performance, esteem and support their social emotional health.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>We understand the importance of UDL and providing students with individualized options to support their success. As we work with IEP students we know that the correct interventions are based upon trial, data and research which are fundamental to provide students with meaningful interventions that will support their growth.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The interventions and strategies we plan on using will incorporate technology and hands-on lessons, activities and games. We plan on utilizing Google Sites to share student work samples with scholars and their families.          <description><![CDATA[<div>For the Multiple Means of Representation, I’ve decided to focus on Language &amp; Symbols, specifically on ‘clarifying symbols’. I’ve started creating an Icon Bank to provide explanation for some of the most important concepts my students need to understand. The attached bank is for Grades 1-2. I’m also planning to create ‘icon banks’ for Kindergarten, Grade 3, and Grade 4-5.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I can post it digitally, on a chart in my classroom, and I can prepare laminated one-sheet handouts for my students. The symbols of the concepts will provide them with something to hang their understanding on. And if I use them consistently, it will definitely reinforce the learning of ELLs, SWDs, visual learners, etc.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I will attach an example of how the symbols can be incorporated into a Retell graphic organizer in the next post.</div>]]></description>

To prepare our students and foster a community where students are valued we will implement the “20 Days of Routines and Expectations”. We understand the importance of getting to know your students well and providing scholars with choice, preferences and goals. </div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>We learned the fundamental importance of UDL and the differences between the traditional and UDL approach to teaching and learning. We learned the UDL approach is not centered towards typical/average student. UDL supports all varieties of learners and provides students with multiple entry points for learning, differentiation, choice and preference.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>In conclusion, we will monitor, track and analyze data with the focus in mind of students meeting their goals and improving their social emotional and academic outcomes. Lastly, to improve and grow as professionals we will reflect and utilize data to improve and grow professionally.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On Day 2 we created a Hispanic Heritage Choice Board to give students options on what they will like to learn on Day 1 of Hispanic Heritage Month. The choice board will be used to introduce Hispanic Heritage Month. We decided to expand on the idea of using a Choice Board.&nbsp;<br><br>Once students completed an activity from the choice boards students will be asked to share 1-2 things they learned when they explored the choice board as a form of an exit ticket. Students will be given the option to use the following digital platforms to share what they learned; Flipgrid, Sketchpad, and GoogleDoc. We decided to use more than one digital platform to give students a choice on how they want to present their thoughts.&nbsp;<br><br>When "exit tickets" are turned in the class will have an open forum where students will sit in a round table and give feedback on what they enjoy and what they want to learn about next. The goal is for students to drive their learning and have a voice on what they want to learn during Hispanic Heritage Month.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
