They had many close calls with the Nazgul and their horses before they reached the inn where they were to meet Gandolf. When they reached the inn however, Gandolf doesn't show up to meet the hobbits, Sam, Frodo, Mari and Pippen; the two twins that joined them on the way. They have to figure out how to cope without Gandolf. While travelling with Aragorn, a stranger who becomes a valiant friend, Frodo gets stabbed by a sword from the Nazgul.
