It is about 6,523 light years away from Earth. It can be spotted through a small telescope and is best located in January.


Crab nebula is somewhere in the middle in terms of age. Average neutron star radius is about 12000km is our guess.

  • One reason that there were only 11 supernovae recorded before the year 1900 is that there are only a few supernovae(?) that occur per century. Another factor to consider is that telescopes were not as good as they are now.

  • The average neutron star radius might be about the size of new york city, so 1,223 KM?
