Why am I in College?

I am at CLC right now because of the PSEO program. I did it mostly because it would save me from a lot of debt in the future and because I believed I could handle it. I am currently in my second year working on my AA and then after this I plan on going to Willmar to get a Vet. Tech. Degree because I am passionate about helping animals.

I looked through the different databases available in the EBSCOhost search engine and I really liked that search engine the most. There are many databases to choose from depending on the topic you are researching for and you can filter things like scholarly journals or the year published or the the source type (videos, articles, newspapers, etc.). All in all its very versatile and it helped me a lot last semester when I had to write a research paper.

Am I Guided by more Intrinsic or Extrinsic Motivators?

When I first went to CLC it was mostly to save money and time through the PSEO program. Which is still mostly the case. I am also very motivated to get good grades in my classes. So, I would think I am most extrinsic, but I also do enjoy learning about the world and myself in the process of getting good grades so I think I also have some intrinsic motivators.

1. The professors and the staff are there to help you, reach out to them for help if you need it and they will gladly help.
2. It doesn't hurt to take notes, while reading for a class or during a lecture, it'll help keep your ducks in a row and not confuse classes.
3. Give yourself enough time to do essays. You can write it a bit at a time and then go back and revise.
4. Make friends in your classes. If you have to miss a lecture you can ask them what you missed and help each other with homework.
5. Don't stress so much. The first week can be scary when you get 5 new syllabuses, but the professors want you to succeed too and will work with you and help you.
