In a flashback, Steve is arrested and his mother is very worried and panicked. Mrs. Petrocceli uses a cheap trick in order to leave a bad image of King and Steve in the heads of the jury. Detective Williams, Dr. James Moody and City Clerk Allen Forbes come to testify in court and Moody claims that Nesbitt drowned in his own blood. Steve is scared of having to stay in jail and is convinced that O’Brien finds him guilty. Lorelle Henry comes in court to testify against King, who she supposedly saw arguing with Nesbitt on the 22nd of December; Briggs tries to discredit her testimony. Richard Evans shows up to court in his prison uniform and says that he knew King his whole life but met Steve just before the getover.
