<title>HISTORY: The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States in commemoration of the centennial of American independence, celebrated in the year 1876. The elaboration and construction of the statue featured great names in French architecture, such as the famous architect Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who a few years later would be responsible for the design of the Eiffel Tower. The sculptor of the monument, in turn, was Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi, who would have been inspired by his own mother to create the face of the statue. When it was completed in 1884, the statue was dismantled in hundreds of pieces and shipped to the United States on a ship. However, its official inauguration only occurred on October 28, 1886, because it took several months for the monument to be properly assembled and fixed on American soil.Today, in addition to an important tourist spot in New York, the statue is also considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its great historical and cultural importance.</title>

<title>THE RIDE: The Statue of Liberty is on Liberty Island and access is via ferries. To visit, buy your ticket at Castle Clinton, Battery Park, south of Manhattan. The ferry operates from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the last return at 5 p.m. In the summer, the initial time is 8:30 am, with the last one at 4:30 p.m. and last return at 6:15 p.m. The interval between the ferries varies from 30 to 45 minutes. The whole tour lasts about 3 hours and depending on the day you can wait more than 90 minutes to board. So our best tip is for you to go early and avoid picking up queues, full ferries, full island and the stress of staying in control when it comes back. On the ferry, the best side to take pictures is the right on the way and the left on the way back.On this walk to the Statue of Liberty there is a stop at Ellis Island, where the Immigration Museum is located. You can go down and get to know the place. To enjoy it well, you should board the ferry in Manhattan until 1:00 p.m. The museum begins to close at 4:45 p.m. and the last return ferry leaves at 5:15 p.m. If you pay the last ferry to Liberty Island, you probably will not be able to visit Ellis Island, hence another reason to go early on the tour.</title>
