This is the first time in history that women started to wear clothing that was more revealing as in the previous year they had more conservative styles and wore dresses which covered their ankles. In the 1910’s it was popular for women to wear long dresses that covered their legs and ankles. Men wore jackets and dress paint and often kept their coats on even when it was hot. By the 1920’s women started to wear short, revealing dresses known as flappers. Flappers were decorated with rhinestones, tassels, and feathers to represent the parties that took place in the 20s. Men started wearing short suit jackets whereas they used to have to wear longs ones. In the 1930s women started wearing dresses exaggerated with solder pads and ruffled cap sleeves. Men started wearing trouser pants that were cuffed at the bottom.

Unfortunately the success could not last because the majority of Americans were buying on credit and did not have the money to pay it back. President Hoover saw the economic crash coming but believed in a Laisse Faire government so he watched the economy fail and believed it would fix itself. Americans blamed Hoover which meant when it came time to elect a new president, the charismatic Roosevelt won by a landslide with his promises of getting America out of the depression.
