They are closely aligned.

2. For the high % correct: what are we doing in our planning/assignments/course work for grades 7, 8 and 9 that we can tie to the higher results for these item descriptions?

We ensure that all ELO's are aligned and scaffolded for grades 7 and 8. All planning is based on ELOs. As  a PLC, we share resources amongst one another and align our units.

3. For the lower % correct: What can we do in grade 7, 8 and 9 to address these areas of concern?

The concern is that students do not understand how to read dissenting arguments and opinions within a non-fiction text. We can address this by ensuring that we are offering more articles and other non-fiction media texts and having them understand in-text citations. More cross-over with Social Studies - how are they reading articles? What do they look for?

4. Do we need to adjust our ELOs?
No, because we update our ELOs yearly, and have just done so in August 2017.

5. Do we need to adjust our assignments/class work/projects? Incorporate more non-fiction texts.

6. Do we need to adjust our marking rubrics?
We are in the process of making consistent and universal rubrics for assessments across all grades.
