A las comunidades indígenas awá de Nariño, que viven en inmediaciones de la cuenca del río Güiza, les duele que después de escuchar una explosión en la noche del sábado y verificar la voladura del Oleoducto Trasandino, las aguas de este cauce están contaminadas por el crudo que era transportado entre los municipios de Mallama y Ricaurte.

Tras el ataque, que afectó el río y capa vegetal, se activó el plan de contingencias, que incluye la recomendación a los habitantes de no consumir aguas de esa fuente hídrica, y se terminó por declarar la emergencia ambiental.
