Upon hearing his words my mindset changed to something more positive which ultimately helped ease my distraught clouds of thoughts and ended up managing to answer the paper easily

Im a very interactive person in a class and try to participate in almost everything I can. One day physics teacher asked us to prepare a presentation on the energy recourses we get through the sun, she asked out 5 students to raise their hands and lead their teams. I raised my hand without knowing anything about whats going on as I was having a chit chat with my friend. The next day exactly 20 min before presenting session, everyone started discussing their work with their teams, clueless me has no idea of whats going on until my team members approached me. I started to panic realising that and regretted being careless the previous day but my classmates and team members acknowledged the situation and helped me out to make things go smooth.

In conversation with someone I’d just met, a song by my favourite singer came on. She immediately pointed it out. It caught me off guard because of how it made me feel remembered and genuinely listened to especially considering we had just only met, and I was in a new environment where I didn’t quite feel comfortable and belonged yet. That really helped me ease into the environment and making friends with others so much easier.

Honeslty, there are sooo many times when others or myself show my kindness that will change my day, from helping to giving out compliments and smiles. However there are some that stick to me till this day that I’ll appreciate or be proud of forever. One of them is a time when me and my friends were walking to the masjid for iftar but then it started to rain, then a pakcik saw us and sacrificed his umbrella for us to use. (Note he was with his friends who had another umbrella so he shared the umbrella with his friend). Thanks to that pakcik we and out stuff weren’t soaked, bc I had my telekung and Quran in my bag. This experience changed my day because all I thoguht abt was, if he didn’t lend the umbrella I could be praying with wet telekung, so I thoguth to myself ouh even the smallest of factor in helping and showing kindness can mean a lot to someone.

I went to a shopping mall where they use a parking ticket system instead of a TNG card system. I got used to using the TNG payment method that I had forgotten to bring cash with me. I was in a state of panic as I needed to leave and there wasn't anybody in my proximity that I knew to call for help. I asked a lady if she would be willing to lend me RM1 to pay for my parking ticket and that I would pay her back using TNG. Thank god she said yes cause that saved me a lot of hassle and stress. Her kindness eased my mind and made me feel thankful that we live in such a kind and trusting society.

I thought that family was through extensive time spent with familiar members and having familiar bloods within the gene pool. I never fathomed what kindness was free and how it can affect individuals at a large scale. If I were to think from perspectives of children from different family backgrounds. As a single child for 11-13 years, the existence of my other new family members from different sides of the family brought me to a new light on what human courtesy is. Nevertheless that was not the only thing they thought me, they showed me the joy of learning to be kind to yourself, as a result of learning self-forgiveness. I could never forgive myself for some trauma in the past in relationships and family problems before I got transitioned to a better family that I want to support in any way I can. Therefore, the mere fact that they took me in as a child of their own after birth, I could not believe on the insights I had missed out. As a debt yet to be paid, UNITEN became the milestone, where I step foot into college to explore what I would like to do to contribute to my family and society as what my family had done for me. Kindness knows no bounds, yet can be done simply.

I'm the sole daughter in the family and I was treated quite differently from my brothers (it's not too extreme though). Relatives and parents would always remind me of my weight, manners and appearance while my brothers were allowed to wear anything and eat anything without much comments from them. I had always thought it was normal until one day, my dad was commenting on how I should stop eating so much. I ignored him because I was used to it already but I'm not sure why but this specific day, my eldest brother decided to say something back. He said "back then you told her to eat a lot and now you're telling her to stop eating so much. Leave her be" (translated to English). It was just words but it had always stuck to me even to this day. For the first time, I really felt protected and cared for by an adult. My dad since then has been avoiding talking about my weight in front of me and my mother is still the same but it doesn't bother me anymore.

My eldest brother also always played plushies with me when I was a kid. I also had communication problems (quiet, anxious, socially awkward) but it always made me comfortable and safe when he was around. He's a bubby and expressive person. Just an easily likeable person overall. I also tend to take everything too seriously and literally but when he's there, he would dramaticize some words and just overall lightened up my mood. It really helped me in social events involving relatives/family. Now he's too busy pursuing his degree in doctorate so we rarely ever see each other but I wish him the best in everything ( ◜‿◝ )♡
