         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Student testimony, representation, success stories of students who have been there, experienced it<br>-Focusing on the needs of specific groups (i.e. students of color, men, etc)<br>-The need for referrals to basic needs for staff/faculty to utilize. How can we better handoff our students toward basic needs services?<br>-Qr code, or info sheet of what basic needs offers and provides (tips for supporting students, what to say etc.)<br>- Know the appropriate language when speaking with our students<br>-Normalizing the language and actions of receiving support, we all need it<br>- Anonymous reporting tools for quickly connecting students to support<br>- Combatting the normative thoughts that home and food insecurity are normal (eating top-ramen only diets, skipping meals, living in their car)<br>- Meeting students where they are at, intentionally outreaching to our students depending on their situations&nbsp;<br>- Letting students know that these resources are built for them<br>- reframing how their needs are important pillars that are important &nbsp;<br>- How are these resources impacted/connected to your life?&nbsp;<br>- Identifying the various obstacles students may be experiencing&nbsp;<br>- Informing the greater campus community about the experiences that students experience, to greater understand how we address that gap<br>- Highlight these resources to students Day 1&nbsp;<br>- Sharing other community resources (better table, etc)<br>- What are we currently doing to show students we are there for them?&nbsp;<br>-Are students aware of calfresh eligibility when choosing meal plan in housing?<br>-Spread message through multiple outlets, use existing resources.&nbsp;<br>- Intentional outreach to our student parents<br>- Maybe get a Basic Needs link in the Red Folder? (I went and I could navigate to CARES, but I didn't see something specifically about basic needs.)<br>- Ask Elbee should be able to respond to basic needs issues and include appropriate links in the responses.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Kimberly Word-College of Ed-Beach Bites- weekend events- how to inform students that there is excess food on campus during weekday or weekend events. How to provide leftovers to those who need it.&nbsp; ASI Pantry can also receive leftovers from events.<br><br>Diana d'Arc: Community garden. Nutritionist on staff. What to do with produce before it goes bad? Learning more about hours for pantry and programs that focus on healthy eating and nutrition. Learning the resources.&nbsp;<br><br>Howard: calendar of all the events that we have at the pantry, CFHL, Beach Balance, ASI Sustainability, Long Beach Organic. Creating a master calendar for others to reference.&nbsp;<br><br>Iraida: Share general programming with Dr. Jeff Klaus and how can all entities be shared<br><br>Kimberly: SSO Chiclet- relaunch<br><br>Diana d'Arc: Creating list of other local food banks. What other distributions on what specific dates.&nbsp;<br><br>Elizabeth: Increasing/optamizing efforts of ASI Beach Kitchen, CalFresh and CalFresh Healthy living with increase collaborations for similar events such as Athletics collaboration.          <title>What would intentional programming for historically minoritized and marginalized students look like in Basic Needs? Partnerships, collaborations that should be considered</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Work with student orgs cultural and non-cultural orgs to get the info out. Can present with those groups.<br><br>-Utilize cultural resource centers and tabling near the centers by F04.<br><br>-Professors /talking/discussing/adding to syllabus, BN services to students. Allow BN team to come and present info in classes. Maybe even a video recorded presentation that professors can show to class.<br><br>- Food campaign for foreign foods that are needed by students. Foreign students may not be familiar with American foods and be aware of different foods.<br><br>-Try to have peer-to-peer students who present and messaging to students.<br><br>-Using labels/signage that is language inclusive.<br><br>- Work with BMAC to ensure students with disabilities are not being missed in basic needs messaging.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>How we can use different program around campus to help? Develop a curriculum for service learning and work as a liaison. Identify organizations in the community we can connect students to.&nbsp;<br><br>What limitations we are faced with now and finding ways to overcome those limitations?&nbsp;<br><br>What services are currently being provided and how we can expand on them? What are other ways we can assist our students with (taking in mind Cost of Attendance). Keeping in mind state/federal guidelines/limitations.<br><br>Implementing policy that exist. How do we disseminate those funds? Challenging the presumptions around Cost of attendance at state/federal level so we are meeting student's needs.&nbsp;<br><br>Outreach around cost of attendance survey and increasing participation. &nbsp;<br><br>Challanges around existing funds but students are unable to access those services because students are at cost of attendance.&nbsp;<br><br>Possible solutions: Timing of when funds are received. Increasing financial literacy for our student and building partnerships with the financial aid office so that we can better serve our students.&nbsp;<br><br>-Business school: class projects within student's programs. Engaging business faculty for research opportunities. &nbsp;<br><br>Conversations around basic needs are not limited to our students but also include staff and faculty.&nbsp;<br>•Define basic needs as the conditions necessary to survive and thrive. This includes:
•Housing security -&nbsp; safe, affordable, fixed, and habitable, inclusive of WiFi and study space
•Food security – acquire, prepare, and store nutritious food
•Mental and physical health
•Financial well-being to ensure those needs are met.
•
These are inclusive of essential needs for student well-being
•Hygiene supplies, transportation, and childcare to attend educational and employment responsibilities<br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
