WEEK 4 - Treatment

At the beginning of my promotional video, two short clips of different cities, one polluted and the other hygienic will be included as a side-by-side comparison. Then, the first call to action (downloading the browser) will show up.

Next, I start listing the benefits of downloading the browser, as well as some facts about the consequences of plastic pollution.

The video will end with another call to action (telling customers to visit the website for more information). The majority of the video will be done in a pixilation style with paper cutouts.

This source is about the effects plastic waste has on humans and the environment. It specifically talks about the connection microplastics have with diseases such as diabetes and cancer. This is useful to my topic because it covers a lot of ground regarding what is at risk of being polluted by plastic.

WEEK 4 - De Bono's Six Thinking Hats

BLUE HAT - Before I start filming, I would need to do a bit of research. Then, I would start making my props. Next, I would begin filming using my phone. After that, I would edit it and embed it into my website.

WHITE HAT - First, I would need to research the health and environmental effects of plastic pollution in densely populated cities in countries like India and China. Then, I would need to find out about other efforts made to combat plastic pollution in those countries.

RED HAT - The audience would feel uncomfortable and shocked knowing about the consequences of plastic pollution at first. However, I would want them to feel optimistic when I show them the effort made to combat pollution.

GREEN HAT - I can be creative with my promotional video by making it into a pixilation-style video to help keep it fresh and interesting. I would also use bright colours to help attract the attention of customers.

YELLOW HAT - Positives and benefits may include the audience passing links to the web browser to people they know, resulting in increased awareness and revenue.

BLACK HAT - I would have to watch out for the deadline so that I can finish the video on time and not rush. I would also need to use reliable sources when researching for information.

ATTENTION - Customers may find this product advertised on their computers as a banner and a pop-up in its early stages. To further increase brand awareness, video advertisements of the product may be shown in online articles in websites about technology.

INTEREST - For those living in cities with high levels of plastic pollution, a group of volunteering cleaners may begin to form. Those living in cleaner cities may start to see seminars being hosted at universities and conventions.

DESIRE - By using this product, customers can help contribute to the removal of plastic pollution in densely populated cities, as well as the implementation of air purifiers and common household plants that can remove toxic pollutants left by plastic.

ACTION - As a result, the air quality begins to improve at a steady pace. To help keep a stable stream of customers, biweekly updates on the cleaning efforts may be introduced to show the customers what they are contributing towards by using the search browser.

I chose this colour palette because they are bright and easy on the eyes. I may not use all colours listed here because five might be too much to use for my website and promotional video. I will use four of the colours which will be green, blue, pink, and white. I picked blue because it's a calming colour and the colour of the sky. I picked green because it's the colour of nature. I picked pink because it is softer than red. I picked white because it will be the colour for the text boxes on my website.

This video is about the search browser OceanHero, which helps clean oceans by removing one plastic bottle per 100 shells. The shells are found at random as people browse the web. This is a very effective video because it gets its message across quickly. It also has pretty visuals. The only downside is that it may be a little bit outdated as this is from 2021. I will be taking some inspiration from this video, particularly its pacing.

This video talks about how much plastic has been generated in recent years, as well as the efforts that have been made to reduce the manufacturing and use of single-use plastics. What's good about this video is the inclusion of graphs, images alongside the presenter, and the use of subtitles. However, the information does not have references. My promotional video will be different from this because I will include footnotes whenever I present data and facts in it.

This video shows how System 002 cleans up plastic without harming the marine life. It is an example of how plastic in the ocean is cleaned up. What I like about this video is how the plastic collection process does not harm marine life. However, the video does not show where the plastic waste will be taken to. My video will be different from this because I will have a variety of information related to plastic pollution.
