Racism is an ongoing and continuous issue that occurs within the world we live in. Racism is the injustice or a type of hatred a human being receives due to the color of their skin. This issue occurs every day all around us and something needs to change. We are all human and our skin color should not define who we are. There are many reasons to take action and spread awareness of racism. Why? Because colored people will get verbally and physically attacked due to the color of their skin in certain situations. Some of those who have colored skin are less likely to receive the same fairness and special attention as others who are not of said race. (Youth are standing up against racism | OHCHR) Young minorities who may face discrimination deserve a stronger support system. Especially at a young age racism should not be taught or even be taught to stand up to it. If people are taught these things at a relatively young age these things can be maybe easier to spread awareness. This social justice issue has been going on and has been a continuous problem in society for years even before our time. I think this day in age, we should overcome the issue of different levels of human beings due to their cultural background. I believe everyone is equal and deserves a fair shot in every and any situation in life. I think my best way to volunteer is to share awareness via social media platforms. Not that it is all I share and I do not want to force people with my opinion, but it is a great way to spread the word and awareness. On campus, I can set up a drive and have people write diverse slogans, facts, or even a picture on something like a posted note and with approval put them on a wall in a building on campus. A way I can spread the word about this drive is through social media, emails, announcements, and flyers. There are many more people standing up for racism and everything in between. I can get involved by joining groups on campus, doing drives, sharing the proper message on social media, and just using my voice to share awareness of stopping the social justice issue of racism. I, fortunately, have the standpoint where I can use my voice and stand up for this issue and make good of what I can do for people who are discriminated against due to their cultural background or skin color.
