I agree with this statement because in my opinion, going to the inauguration would make the election feel more normal and real. It would also be a sign of support, just as going to someone graduation is. Many family and friends of mine disagreed on whether or not they would support the inauguration. The point is everyone has their own political opinion and they should be able to express it without being judged. With Trumps inauguration people chose to sit out and that is their own decision. The officials however should have gone out of respect for the president, he has won and they need to support it even if they don't agree.
